  • [Kickstarter update #39] Great news (printing has started), although the exact fulfillment dates are pending

    n

It’s been a few weeks since our last update, and I can’t deny these have been turbulent weeks as we’ve been working closely with the manufacturer to get things on track.

    nnnn

I’m delighted to announce that the printing process has started!!!

    nnnn

Now we’re not yet out of the risky zone as the timelines for printing are still a bit uncertain. The manufacturers are doing their best to shorten this process as much as possible, but this means we don’t yet have a specific date when the games will be available for shipment.

    nnnn

We believe this will be somewhere in August. If all goes well, it will be the first days of August, but until we know more we need to acknowledge it could be as much as 4 weeks later.

    nnnn

The awesome part of this is that it’s really happening and there’s no going back! We can’t wait to get the pallets in and start sending your games out to you all!

    nnnn

EDIT: Seeing as Rico asked nicely, here’s a really cool rendering Jose did of the game fully setup and in progress that you’ll see pictured on the back of the game box!

  • [Kickstarter update #38] Sorry this is taking longer than expected!

    n

    Hi all

    nnnn

Firstly I have to apologise for the silence. These past weeks have been pretty intense with lots of discussions with the manufacturers to get everything perfect before they start the printing process. Not only has this been pretty stressful, but also I’ve spent the whole time thinking we’re just a couple of days away from getting the details on when printing happens and when the games will be ready. I’ve been delaying this update for this time as I assumed waiting another couple of days would mean we could communicate solid timelines…however that’s not yet possible.

    nnnn

We are making huge progress though. All the core files for the game itself are ready and being turned into the final eproofs for the printers. While that’s happening we’re iterating now on the locker component that will hold the cards while playing the game as this turned out to be a bit flimsy with the original design. We’re confident though we’ll get to the final version very soon. (I’ve been informed that this isn’t holding up the rest of the process).

    nnnn

These lockers will fit in the box if they are dismantled, but we’re also including a small tuckbox to store them separately if you’d like to keep them fully assembled between plays. This tuckbox and the core box insert both have a nice design now as well so they’ll fit in the visual theme of the entire game!

    nnn

    n

The cute locker tuckbox for if you’d like to store it complete outside the game box.

    n

    nnn

I am in pretty much daily contact with the manufacturers to resolve all these final items, so I really don’t expect this to take more than a few more days before we can push the big green button! From an email I received yesterday as we’re working on the tuckbox:

    nnnn

“As soon as I have the mockups of the new lockers and I test them with the tuckbox, I will send you the die lines so you can prepare the final design of the lockers. Thank you very much for your patience, we are almost there.”

    nnnn

Production is expected to take 6-8 weeks, so the time is slipping away from us and I know many of you are eagerly awaiting your games. I promise I’m doing everything I can to get this moving so we can start shipping out to you all. It looks like folks will start getting their games end of July / August at this point, which is ~3 months later than we’d hoped, but I do think we’ll be making this date!

    nnnn

Additionally, from the end of June I’ll be reducing my hours at my day job to give me more time to focus on the game and ensure that I can execute on the EU and worldwide fulfillment ASAP. The US and Canada fulfillment is being taken care of by BridgeDistribution so you’re in good hands there!

    nnnn

I really can’t wait to share this game with you, thank you all so much for bearing with us so far!

  • [Kickstarter update #37] Finalizing files…and making big plans!

    n

    Hi folks!

    nnnn

We’ve been working closely with the manufacturers these past weeks to get everything lined up for printing, but we’ve now got everything lined up. We had a few extra delays due to a big event in Spain and the Easter holidays.

    nnnn

Now we’re just waiting for the demo print to be done and then the full print run will start and then we’ll also have the dates we need to set the rest of the process in motion with freight and distribution. It’s too early to be sure, but I’m now expecting early July as the date when you’ll start to receive your copies.

    nnnn

I know it’s disappointing we’re not fulfilling on time, I just hope we can make you all happy with the final product when it does get into your hands and on your tables! In the meantime, I want to share the final board artwork for those who haven’t seen it yet!

    nnn

    n

    n

    nnn

We’re also making big plans for the coming year, having just booked a returning space at Spiel, Essen – where we’ll be joining forces with our good friends at BARPIG with a big presence! More to come on this soon as we draw up all the plans.

  • [Kickstarter update #36] Print n Play – BackerKit issue

    n

Just a quick update to let you know we’re having some problems with the Print n Play distribution on BackerKit. The files are ready, but the system is not picking up the backers to send them out. I’m in touch with their support team on this and it should be resolved shortly. Sorry for the delay.

    n

  • [Kickstarter update #35] We’re ready to start printing!

    n

    Hey everyone

    nnnn

Sorry for the delay in this update – this past few weeks has been very busy and intense (with game process, my day-job and personal life). This will be a short but exciting update – hope yiou enjoy!

    nnnn

    The files have been sent!

    nnnn

We have incredible news for you all: We’ve finished the designs of everything and the files have been sent to the manufacturer!

    nnnn

Now we’re still waiting for the confirmation that everything was correctly received and is good to go (due to Easter weekend) but we know already the printing process will take approximately 8 weeks, so it looks like the games will be ready at the end of May and we’ll start fulfillment straight away. We’re expecting to have an update this coming week and we should be getting our estimates for the process. From there we’ll be following up with the fulfillment company and updating all our timelines.

    nnnn

Print n Play – Penultimate version

    nnnn

The next update to the Print n Play copies is also in progress right now and should be distributed later today. There are two important things about this:

    nnnn

    1. The Really-NSFW Expansion will be released for the first time to backers who have purchased the NSFW expansion deck.

    nnnn

    2. The files are not optimised for home printing – once we have the final OK from the printers and have made any error corrections, we’ll prepare the very final Print n Play version.

    nnnn

This is a huge step for us, but as we’re still waiting for the final confirmation we’re waiting patiently before we start celebrating and working on the next steps. So we’ll be sharing a bit more exciting news about what’s upcoming in our next update.

    n

  • Just got played

    n

We sent JJ from Just Got Played an early prototype of the game and we’re so happy he had fun and enjoyed it!

    nnnn

    n

  • [Kickstarter update #34] So sorry, we’ve got a delay

    n

    Manufacturing delay

    nnnn

Jumping right into this as I have some unfortunate news for you all. We’re a bit behind with our plan for manufacturing. It was looking promising to make our deadlines, but we’ve not been able to get everything ready in time for the cut-off that would get the games to us in time.

    nnnn

The order with the printers is nearly finalised, but it looks like we’ll still need a couple of weeks to make the necessary adjustments to everything. This will likely mean manufacturing will finish towards the end of May. From there, the US and Canada copies will be shipped over to Bridge Distribution for fulfilment. We’re not sure exactly how long this will take, but we’ll be getting estimates as soon as we have the production ready date. The rest of the copies will be making a much shorter journey to us here in Amsterdam and we’ll be starting with fulfilment straight away.

    nnnn

I’m sorry that we weren’t able to meet our timelines here. There are two main factors that have caused this. Firstly, my health towards the end of 2022 was not great and I needed to take time away to recover. Secondly as we’ve been getting more visibility, I’ve been getting a lot more feedback and input on the game, both in terms of gameplay and production. We’ve made a significant number of small improvements to everything, from refining the turn sequences and order, getting better designs on the cards, illustrations on the board and cruising areas are also much better than we had previously planned for. Overall, we’re very proud of what we’re making now and can’t wait to get it into everyone’s hands to be played and enjoyed.

Incoming Game Review by Just Got Played

    nnnn

Some exciting news however is that our first official board game review has been recorded by the folks over at Just Got Played! This will be published early next week (hoping for Monday). I have no idea what they thought of the game yet – so I’ll be watching it for the first time along with you all. I have been checking out a lot more of their reviews recently and I like their style very much. Their reviews have already had an impact on my to-buy list (Dice Manor seems perfect for our gayming group here) so I recommend you check out their channel!

    nnnn

We’ve got a few other copies with reviewers who are working on making their content and we’ll let you know as soon as these are coming out.

    nnnn

That’s all for this update. My hope is the next update will be us confirming we’ve started production!

    n

  • [Kickstarter update #33] Plenty of news for you all!

    n

    Hi everyone

    nnnn

Quite a lot has happened this past 2 weeks, so I’ll just jump right in and get on with this info packed update!

    nnnn

    Print n Play

    nnnn

I’ve just uploaded an update to the Print n Play files to the Pledge Manager. I don’t expect this to be the final-final version, but we’re getting close! I’ve made a few small changes to the rulebook based on feedback we’ve had – no game changes (literally), just minor edits for clarification. I’ve also added numbers to the dice table at the back of the rulebook to make it easier to use a normal D6 dice. The components are also now on A4 PDFs that I’m hoping should make the printing process a lot smoother. Please get in touch if you have any problems with printing.

    nnnn

    Reviewer Copies

    nnnn

The reviewer copies have started to land on doorsteps, so we’re excited to hear that the content creators are already hard at work putting together some videos of the game! We’ll be making as much noice about this as possible when they launch – really hope they have fun and enjoy the game. We did have a couple of hiccups with the printing process for these (not enough of some components), luckily the final games will go through a much more rigorous testing process and each mistake now of course helps us to learn.

    nnn

    n

    n

    nnn

    Shipping

    nnnn

We are unfortunately still waiting on a couple of pieces of info before we can make updates to the shipping costs, but I can already confirm that it’s very likely backers around Europe without add-ons will likely see a bit of a reduction in the costs as we’re pretty certain we’ll be fitting into a lower weight class than we had originally estimated.

    nnnn

I’ve also been in touch with BackerKit and now the shipping fees should be more visible within the interface for you all. Due to the beta feature we’re making use of, these were hidden and so pretty confusing, but now if you view your pledge details through BackerKit and go to the section to change your address, you should see the estimated shipping fees clearly identified.

    nnnn

    North America Fulfilment

    nnnn

We’re also delighted to announce that we will be partnering with Bridge Distribution for our North American fulfilment. We’re so happy that this worked out for us as this has a whole host of advantages for us as a company and to our backers in the region. We’ll be sending about half of the games we get printed over to their warehouses once printed and they’ll be handling the fulfilment to both US and Canada on an ongoing basis. This has allowed us to quote a much reasonable shipping cost and hopefully a much smoother process through customs. A big shout out to Matt and David from Bridge for their help in getting to this agreement.

    nnnn

    Gayming Group

    nnnn

One of the things I’m proud of this past two weeks is launching a new edition of the LGBTQ+ Board Gaming events I host: Board Gaymers in Amsterdam. We started back in 2019 and have been hosting twice-per-month gaming events at our favourite bar hangout called Prik (it actually means bubbles in Dutch, but the pun is certainly intended). This event is lots of fun and is an awesome way for us to hang out and get some games in on a Tuesday evening.

    nnnn

We are however growing as a group, so last Sunday was our first XL edition hosted as an awesome meeting space called LOADS.Amsterdam. We had 26 happy gaymers join in on the fun playing tonnes of games all day – including of course a near-mandatory game of Gay Sauna!

    nnn

    n

    n

    nnn

If you’re nearby or ever visiting, come join us for one of our events and meet our awesome growing members (now that pun was accidental). You can find out more on our website at https://rerollworks.com.

    nnnn

Well, that’s all for now hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!

  • [Kickstarter update #32] Shipping Info Update

    n

    Hello everyone!

    nnnn

Again I need to apologise as we missed another update last week. As a result of this, we’ve made the decision to reduce our updates here to every 2 weeks. This will not only save me time, but also remove the guilt I end up carrying with me all week when I miss one. If anything super urgent or important comes up we’ll ensure we post ASAP, but most things can wait a while before being announced, so I don’t think anyone will miss out.

    nnnn

We have been very busy since the last update – Jose is wrapping up the board artwork which is looking amazing, and I’ve spent most of my time focused on the shipping details (more on that shortly).

    nnnn

The most important and awesome thing that happened was last weekend. Jose (who now lives in Vancouver) spent a couple of days with us here in Amsterdam! It was the first time we were able to meet in person, and we had such a blast hanging out, getting to know each other and doing a bit of partying too. Before you ask – no, we didn’t go to the Gay Sauna together, we’ll save that adventure to the next time we meet up 😀 We did manage a trip to my favourite party in Amsterdam called Blue at Club Church – a crazy kooky clubbing experience with a really unique vibe. If you’re ever in town a strongly recommend this for a Thursday night.

    nnnn

    Shipping!

    nnnn

By far the biggest challenge in this whole project has been the complex shipping conundrum. I’ve spent a good part of the last months analysing so many different options for how to get your games out to you all in the most efficient and cost effective manner. This is at least for now finalised with the current shipping estimates already loaded into the pledge manager (BackerKit).

    nnnn

The actual shipping charges won’t be taken until we’re closer to sending things out, and I will continue to investigate options that might improve the costs for some backers. Specifically I’m not happy with the current charges for APAC and also some European countries, but while I’m waiting on some more info and quotes I didn’t want to hold up the process for everyone else. The current is the absolute maximum you will be charged.

    nnnn

BackerKit currently won’t display the upcoming charges to you very easily, but if you go to your survey and click to Edit your Address, you should see an order total listed (the shipping will be listed as being charged later, but the total will be non-zero). Access your survey here.

    nnnn

We’ll only be collecting shipping charges in April when the games are ready to be shipped out. So if you’ve got questions or concerns, there is time for us to resolve these in the meantime.

That’s all we’ve got for this update – in 2 weeks our next update will include an update to our Print n Play version including some modifications we’ve made thanks to feedback from some of you.

    n

  • [Kickstarter update #31] Prepare for a big one incoming!

    n

Hello everyone! I hope you’re sitting comfortably, because this is going to be a big update full of lots of awesome information. So let’s get started!

    nnnn

    Print n Play

    nnnn

The first Beta version of the Print n Play game is being added to the Pledge Manager as I’m writing this. If all goes well, it should be available to download later this evening or very latest tomorrow.

    nnnn

This version is a simple file dump of the digital files we’re using for the reviewer copies. We’ve still got a couple of components we’re working on before the final game is ready, but these versions are about 90% accurate of what the final game will include.

    nnnn

As this is a “file dump” it’s been optimised for the manufacturing process, not home Printing. As a result, the assets are all individual files, of varying scales and full colour. I’ll be working to make a v2 in the coming weeks, reformatting everything to A4 pages and taking out some of the colours so it’s a bit more printer friendly.

    nnnn

Note that this version is also only the standard game, the NSFW Print n Play will be released in the coming weeks with the above mentioned improvements. Preparing these files is quite a manually intensive task, so I’m hoping you’ll be patient with me while I get everything ready for you.

    nnnn

    Reviewer Copies

    nnnn

We’re delighted to announce we’ve confirmed 4 content creators who have offered to review the game! These copies are being ordered right now – they might take a few weeks to be printed and get to their estimation, but we’re very excited to see what folks think when they’ve got the game in their hands!

    nnnn

Once we’ve confirmed it with the reviewers, we’ll be dropping their details in our next update so you can check out their channels and join us in eagerly awaiting their posts.

    nnnn

    Manufacturing

    nnnn

As mentioned above, we’re down to our final few components to prepare before we send everything off to the printers. It’s looking like this should happen in the next 2-3 weeks – which given approx 2 months for production, puts us a tiny bit behind where we hoped to be at this point.

    nnnn

While I’m certain we’ll be getting the games into your hands across Europe in May, further afield it might take a little longer before games are arriving at your doors (but no longer than a couple of weeks). I’m not expecting a big delay here – in fact it could still all work out on time, but I want to be upfront and set the right expectations.

    nnnn

    Fulfilment and Shipping Costs

    nnnn

One of the most challenging aspects of this campaign has been the fulfilment conundrum. We had always intended to do our own fulfilment for the campaign, but we didn’t really expect to have such a global audience, and with over 50% of backers residing in the US and Canada, we’ve been trying to work out how best to keep things affordable for everyone involved.

    nnnn

While we have yet to sign with a partner for fulfilment, we have received enough information at this point to announce we will be working with a US based fulfilment partner. This means we’ll be shipping pallets of the game and expansion over to the US in bulk. The result is US and Canadian backers will have a huge reduction in their shipping costs compared to our previous estimates (in fact it’ll be about 50% of the quotes we were looking at earlier in January!).

    nnnn

Once we’ve signed an agreement, we’ll be announcing the partner and also populating all the shipping costs within the pledge manager so everyone can see what they’ll need to pay for shipping. In the meantime I figure you’d all appreciate a bit more information so here’s a rough approximate of the shipping costs we expect – with the variation depending on the size of the package 😉

    nnnn

      n

    • NL €10 (or local pickup)
    • nnnn

    • EU & UK €10-25
    • nnnn

    • US €15-25
    • nnnn

    • Canada €20-30
    • nnnn

    • Other €20-60
    • n

    nnnn

We’re still working to get this as cheap as possible to all regions, and will continue to explore different options especially for APAC which is proving to be a challenge at the moment – we just don’t have the scale of backers in the region to negotiate for better prices.

    nnnn

As I mentioned, once we have signed, we’ll be able to populate the pledge manager and you’ll get your own personalised shipping quotation. We won’t be able to help much with questions about costs before then, so please only reach out if really necessary so we can focus our time where it’s most needed.

    n
